Lip augmentation surgery is a popular choice for many patients in Location. Although luscious, full lips may be achieved with several minimally invasive fillers, lip augmentation surgery using implants offers patients permanent lip rejuvenation results.
Any person who wishes to alter, resize, reshape and/or lift their lips may be a suitable candidate for lip augmentation surgery. Most patients choose to undergo lip enhancement with an implant to improve the appearance of small, deflated lips, treat asymmetry or to correct a sagging upper and/or lower lip. In addition, lip augmentation surgery may also be utilized to restore the normal appearance of lips following a traumatic injury or birth defect.
Lip implants are shaped like a small tube and filled with synthetic material. Dr. Nickodem works with patients to choose the appropriate type of implant to best suite their aesthetic goals.
Lip augmentation surgery typically lasts about an hour and is a relatively simple procedure that is often performed under local anesthesia. Incisions are generally made at the corners of the mouth and allow Dr. Nickodem to delicately create a thin tunnel to accommodate the implant. The shape and size of the created space is essential to producing natural-looking, well-balanced lips. Once the tunnel is created, the implant is inserted and positioned in place.
Recovery from lip augmentation surgery generally lasts between one and two weeks. During this period, patients often experience mild discomfort, bruising, swelling and bleeding. If sutures are used, they are usually removed within ten days following surgery. Final results become visible approximately two months later.
Lip augmentation patients in Location often undergo this facial rejuvenation procedure in conjunction with other cosmetic treatments including nose reshaping, facelift, eyelid surgery, laser skin resurfacing and others. Fuller lips and a more youthful facial appearance may also be achieved through non-surgical, minimally invasive cosmetic procedures such as Botox. These procedures are all offered at our office.
