A brow lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that can dramatically improve a person’s facial appearance. The forehead and brows are often two of the first, and perhaps most prominent, places on the face to show signs of aging. As we grow older, the upper portion of the face may begin to descend, creating a “heavy” brow which can look like a permanent frown or make the eye area appear tired. To correct the effects of aging for a heavy brow, Dr. Nickodem can perform brow lift surgery to help patients in Location rejuvenate and refresh their facial appearance. Using a combination of technique options to further customize the experience for each patient, the brow lift can correct issues related to sagging skin around the brow and forehead region as well as transverse creases or other wrinkling around the area.
There are two surgical approaches to brow lift surgery: the traditional brow lift and endoscopic brow lift. Both procedures take approximately two hours to complete and are performed on an outpatient basis. A brow lift can also be combined with other cosmetic surgery procedures to create an even greater transformation.
Traditional Brow Lift
When performing a traditional brow lift, there are several approaches Dr. Nickodem may take. Depending on your needs and cosmetic goals, the incision may be made along the scalp, mid-forehead or behind the ears. After creating the incision, any excess skin is removed, thereby tightening the forehead skin and elevating the brows to a natural and attractive position.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
An endoscopic brow lift utilizes a tiny, wire-like camera to guide long-handled instruments through smaller incisions. The endoscopic brow lift is performed somewhat similarly to the traditional approach, though the incisions are much smaller and will appear less noticeable once the healing process is complete. During the procedure, a few small incisions are made along the hairline which allows a tiny wire-like camera called an endoscope to be placed beneath the skin. Using surgical instruments with the help of the endoscope, Dr. Nickodem will smooth the skin and elevate the brows to a higher position.
